Accounts Payable Specialist (Contract-to-Hire)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role is fully onsite in Riverside and requires prior construction industry AP experience. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage a high volume of invoices while maintaining accuracy and compliance with company policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Process high-volume accounts payable invoices, including job cost coding and purchase order matching.
• Review, verify, and reconcile invoices, ensuring accuracy with contracts, purchase orders, and receipts.
• Handle subcontractor and vendor payments, including lien waivers, progress billings, and retainage when applicable.
• Manage weekly payment runs via ACH, check, and credit card.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Maintain organized and accurate AP files for audits and month-end close.
• Collaborate with project managers and the accounting team to resolve invoice or job cost issues.
• Assist with accruals and support month-end and year-end close processes.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience, with at least 1 year in the construction industry (required).
• Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems; experience with construction-specific software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Procore, or similar) is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of job cost coding and AP best practices.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in Accounting or related field preferred.

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay Rate: $24-$27/hour (depending on experience).
• Schedule: Full-time, onsite in Riverside, CA.
• Contract-to-hire opportunity with potential for long-term growth.

Pay Details: $24.00 to $27.00 per hour
