Description
Join our growing team and support the U.S. Green Building Council California (USGBC-CA’s) initiatives in leading the Green Building Movement. This is a high-impact leadership role within USGBC California's Implementation Team, tasked with a bold climate and workforce mission: to scale our training portfolio to reach and skill 10,000 trainees per year. To achieve this scale, you will act as the primary institutional bridge, forging deep cooperative partnerships with California Community Colleges and California State Universities. You will ensure USGBC-CA’s training programs are formally certified, verified, and aligned with academic and industry standards. Operating in a cross-matrix environment, you will drive "cross-pollination" by matching curriculum design with institutional resources, creating seamless pathways from education directly into high-wage green careers. This position is slated to begin August 1, 2026, reporting to our Program Manager, Workforce Development.
Core Responsibilities
1. Institutional Partnerships & Scaling (Target: 10,000/Year)
Higher Education Cooperation: Build and manage strategic partnerships with Community College districts and CSU campuses to integrate USGBC-CA training into existing certificate, degree, or extended education pathways.
Enrollment Scaling: Develop and execute regional strategies to exponentially increase trainee volume, mobilizing public-private networks to meet our target of training 10,000 individuals annually.
Articulation & Credit: Work alongside academic departments, deans, and registrars to establish credit-bearing articulations or continuing education units (CEUs) for USGBC-CA programs.
2. Curriculum Excellence & Learning Validation
Curriculum Knowledge Integration: Apply deep knowledge of instructional design, adult learning principles, and technical green building concepts (e.g., LEED, CALGreen, Decarbonization) to evaluate and level up the overall portfolio.
Validation of Learning Objectives: Establish rigorous quality assurance metrics to mathematically and qualitatively validate that trainees are mastering stated learning objectives.
Technical Rigor: Coordinate with internal and external subject matter experts to audit, refine, and modernize technical curriculum, ensuring it meets changing state codes and market demands.
3. Certification, Verification & LMS Operations
Formal Credentialing: Lead the process to get USGBC-CA training certified and verified by state workforce bodies, academic institutions, and industry associations, boosting the institutional value of our credentials.
LMS Ecosystem Management: Oversee the Learning Management System (LMS) to track enrollment, monitor student mastery of learning objectives, and issue verified, stackable digital badges and certificates.
Data Auditing: Maintain impeccable records of training delivery, completions, and certification status to satisfy grant requirements and audits.
Scalable Training Models: Lead initiatives to scale asynchronous training models, with the goal of expanding program reach and driving revenue growth.
4. Workforce Integration & Cross-Pollination
Career Pathing Architect: Map clear, accessible trajectories connecting non-traditional students, community college attendees, and university graduates to specific technical certificates and green employer networks.
Internal Cross-Pollination: Work across the Implementation Team and regional committees to ensure academic insights are shared with our membership and development wings, maximizing organizational synergy.
Required Skills & Experience Institutional Navigation: 5+ years of experience coordinating programs, developing curriculum, or building partnerships within or alongside California Higher Education systems (Community Colleges and/or CSUs).
Curriculum & Instructional Design Expert: Strong background in technical education, instructional design, and defining/validating learning objectives.
LMS Management: Expertise in LMS: Adept at navigating digital learning landscapes to boost trainee interaction and optimize the learner journey in an online training environment, driving engagement and thoughtfulness about user experience.
Scale-Minded Operator: Proven experience managing large-scale educational or workforce programs with aggressive annual enrollment or trainee targets.
Credentialing Savvy: Familiarity with the processes for getting courses certified, accredited, or mapped to industry recognized credentials (IRCs).
Cross-Functional Leadership: Highly collaborative with a knack for driving consensus among disparate groups (academics, corporate partners, workforce boards, and internal staff).
Preferred Qualifications

Deep understanding of green building technology, carbon neutrality, or environmental sustainability.
